Rev. Justin Sponaugle, M.Div.
Pastor Sponaugle is a 2011 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He was officially installed as Zion’s pastor in 2021 after serving Zion as a vacancy pastor beginning in the fall of 2019. He began his pastoral ministry at Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter, MO where he continues to serve as part of the dual-parish arrangement Zion and Faith formed in 2021.
Pastor Sponaugle is a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, serving on active duty in the U.S. Army from 2003 - 2007. He has experienced multiple visits to Israel and the Middle East, and is an avid long-distance runner (although "long" has not been "as long" in recent years!) He enjoys spending time outdoors, whitewater kayaking, and raising livestock on his small farm just outside of Dexter, MO.
Prior to his service in the Army and attending seminary, Pastor Sponaugle attended the University of Missouri-Columbia where he earned a degree in Biological Engineering.
