Grace and peace to you from Him who is and was and is to come, and from the seven Spirits before His throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness,
the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood,
who has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father—to Him be the glory and power forever and ever! Amen.
- Revelation 1:4b-6 (BSB)

Welcome to Zion...
Zion Lutheran Church of Poplar Bluff, Missouri was founded on February 18, 1897. Since that time, "Zion" has always been the name of our beloved church. The word "Zion" is a poetical term for the city of Jerusalem, one of the titles the Bible ascribes to the Holy Christian Church. It is the place He has chosen for His habitation, and in which His Spirit dwells.
The Holy Spirit alone calls people to faith in the Son of God and into His Church. The Holy Spirit washes them by the blood of Jesus Christ. It is God alone who works in the church, yet He chooses to do His work through people. For over 125 years, God has used the redeemed men and women of Zion Lutheran Church as His instruments and vehicles through which He brings to the world His call to repentance, His gospel of forgiveness, and His commission to practice love.
Where His people are faithful and good is accomplished, it is He who gives success. And when His people fail, He unfailingly calls them back to repentance and gives them Grace to work again. All glory in the church belongs to God and God alone.
